Anastasia Kobekina - BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists 2018 - 2020

Born into a family of musicians, Anastasia Kobekina received her first cello lessons at the age of four at her home in Yekaterinburg, the capital of the Ural part of Russia. Following the completion of her studies at the Central Music school in Moscow she was invited to study at the famous Kronberg Academy in Germany and continued her studies at the University of Arts in. She is currently a student at the Conservatoire of Paris and at the Frankfurter Hochschule  for baroque violoncello. In 2015 Anastasia won the prestigious TONALi Competition in Hamburg.

One of the most promising talents of her generation, Anastasia Kobekina debuted with an orchestra at the age of six. Since that time she has had the opportunity to perform with many renowned orchestras, such as Moscow Virtuosi, Kremerata Baltica, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin, the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, and many others - under guidance of Krzysztov Penderecki, Heinrich Schiff, Vladimir Spivakov and Valery Gergiev. 

In 2018 she became a “BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist“and was also awarded the Prix Thierry Scherz and the Prix André Hoffmann at the Swiss Winter Music Festival “Sommets musicaux de Gstaad”, a reward that comprised a recording with orchestra for the Swiss recording label Claves (released in April 2019). In June 2019 Anastasia won the Bronze medal at the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition in St. Petersburg. 

One of young cellist’s main dedications and passions is chamber music - she has been participating in many festivals performing with artists, such as Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet, Giovanni Sollima, Denis Matsuev, Fazil Say, Vladimir Spivakov, and Andras Schiff.

Anastasia will be partnered at Glynde Place by the pianist, Luka Okros.

Alexander Gadjiev - BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists 2018 - 2020

Alexander Gadjiev was born into a family of musicians in 1994, in Gorizia, Italy. He began his piano studies at the age of five with his mother, Ingrid Silic. Later on, he continued his studies with his father, a well-known Russian teacher, Siavush Gadjiev. At the age of nine, he played Haydn’s Concerto in C major with orchestra, receiving excellent reviews from the press. He gave his first solo recital at the age of ten.

Alexander has been a first prize winner in numerous competitions for young pianists. After his success at the piano competition of Ljubljana (Slovenia) he was invited to play at the festivals of Ljubljana and in Feldkirchen, Austria. In 2009 he played the Grieg Piano Concerto with “Ars Atelier” orchestra of Gorizia and at the Filarmonia of Ljubljana with the orchestra of Ljubljana Opera House. In 2010 he gave solo recitals in Trieste and in Maribor. In 2011 he played at the Dilsberg festival in Germany. In 2012 he played Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto with the orchestra RTV Slovenija.

In June 2012 he won the ninth edition of the “Premio delle Arti”, in Trieste. In the same year he graduated magna cum laude at the “Conservatorio Bruno Maderna” of Cesena. Since autumn 2013 he has been attending the Master’s degree course at prestigious “Mozarteum” of Salzburg. In November 2013 he won the thirtieth edition of the prestigious “Premio Venezia”, competition in which only magna cum laude graduated pupils are allowed to participate. In December 2015 he won the First Prize and Audience Prize at the prestigious 9th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, which figured in the jury great personalities like Martha Argerich, Sergey Babayan, Pavel Nersessyan among the others.

He was appointed a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist in 2019.

Alessandro Fisher - BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists 2018 - 2020

Alessandro Fisher was a Music Scholar at Eton College from 2002 – 2007 and a Choral Scholar at Clare College Cambridge from 2007 – 2011. He achieved a BA Hons in Modern and Medieval Languages in 2011. He went on to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for Postgraduate Vocal Studies from 2011 – 2013. His foreign languages are Italian, French and German.

He was joint winner of the Paul Hamburger Lieder Prize, GSMD, in November 2012, winner of the Oxford Lieder Young Artists Platform competition in 2013 and joint winner of the 2016 Kathleen Ferrier Awards at the Wigmore Hall in 2016. He became a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist for the period 2018 – 2020.

He is already widely experienced in opera, solo oratorio and lieder recitals in the UK and internationally, performing at Glyndebourne, the National Theatre, Barbican Hall and Covent Garden, and further afield in Innsbruck, Tirol, Bordeaux etc. He has received glowing reviews for his lyrical voice and intelligent musicianship linked to a notable stage presence.

He will be partnered at Glynde Place by the pianist, Gary Matthewman.
