An Evening Concert with
the Consone String Quartet

They play with perfect intonation, tremendous attack and impeccable historical style...I would happily listen to them every day.
— Sir Roger Norrington, Conductor

Formed at the Royal College of Music, London, in 2012, the Consone String Quartet was awarded two prizes at the 2015 York Early Music Young Artists Competition. It went on to win the 2016 Royal Over-Seas League Ensemble Prize and was the first period instrument quartet to be selected as BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists in 2019. It received a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2022.

In the UK the Quartet has been enthusiastically received at the Wigmore Hall, King’s Place, St. Martin-in-the-Fields and at the Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Kings Lynn, Brighton, and York Festivals. Internationally, they have performed in Paris, Lyon, Amsterdam, Brugge, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Japan, and toured in Bolivia and Peru. Its North American debut took place in 2023.

The Quartet enjoys collaborating with fellow musicians, including the Fitzwilliam String Quartet, members of the Hanover Band, harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani, and has previously worked with students of the Royal College of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal Welsh College of Music, and Chethams School of Music.

It has recorded two albums, one of Haydn and Mendelssohn and the other the complete cycle of Mendelssohn quartets.
