Johan Dalene

22 years old violinist, Johan Dalene, has made a significant impact on the international scene, performing with leading orchestras in major concert halls at home in Sweden and abroad. His engaging personality, superb technique and sensitive musicality enable him to engage with both musicians and audiences. He won the Norwegian Soloist prize and First Prize at the prestigious 2019 Carl Nielsen Competition that gained him many admirers.

Johan began playing the violin aged four and made his professional debut three years later. In 2016 he was student-in-residence at Switzerland’s Verbier Festival and also was accepted on to the Norwegian Crescendo programme. He was appointed a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist in 2021, playing recitals, chamber music and concertos with BBC orchestras. Recording exclusively for BIS, Johan’s first recording in 2019 featuring Tchaikovsky and Barber was praised by BBC Music Magazine as “one of the finest violin debuts of the last decade”.
