Glynde Place Concert Series
End of an Era
Very sadly we have taken the decision not to continue the Glynde Place Concert Series.
It was Robert Money who first suggested that we should think about classical concerts and, with his uncompromising ear for quality and calm negotiating style, he set about inviting BBC New Generation Artists from all over the world to come and fill the house with music. It started in 2014 with the guitarist Sean Shibe. We will never forget how the whole audience seemed to hold its breath as Farewell to Stromness reverberated around the Marble Hall. We understood first hand how the collaboration of artist, audience and setting could create something so magical. With Robert’s musical guidance, the hard work of the team at Glynde Place, the calibre of the musicians, and the support of our audience, that extraordinary shared experience has delighted us for the last ten years.
Twenty-six artists or ensembles have joined us on our musical journey over this time and we remain in awe of their talent and dedication. We have much enjoyed hosting many of them as our guests, getting some insight into the lives of international performers.
It has also been great fun getting to know our concert-goers. Chatting round the fire bowl in the intervals as the May temperatures kept us on our toes or, later in the year, sitting on the grass soaking up the evening sun. Thank you for your loyal support. We knew we had something special and it was lovely to know that others felt it too.
So this is good bye (for now) and a huge thank you to everyone who has made the Glynde Place Concert Series such a success.
